I’ve been ever so eager to post the photos of Meghan and Dave and their glorious wedding day. Partly because it was a gorgeous late September afternoon, mostly because everything about Meghan and Dave screamed out for me to be there to photograph their wedding.
And last but not least, their story is such a wonderful one.
You see, Meghan and Dave have known each other since they were thirteen. They had Spanish class together in eighth grade. They were friends throughout middle and high schools, but didn’t start dating until their senior year. They then ended up at different colleges (Dave to Colgate, Meghan to BC), but after two years apart, Dave transferred to BC. In a world of craziness, what could be more sane and meant-to-be then Meghan and Dave getting married.
Their ceremony took place in their home town of Bedford, New York and the reception at the beautiful Le Chateau in nearby South Salem. And as you can imagine, having been together for all of those years, they have lots and lots of mutual friends, all of whom seriously know how to party. With the extraordinary talent of florist Cecily Grand, music by the fabulous local band Heartbeat, it was truly a day and night to remember.
One more little story I thought was worth sharing, and for this one, what could be better than having Meghan tell it in her own words.
“Just a few months before we got engaged, I started skiing. Dave loves to ski, has been doing it for most of his life and most of our friends in the area ski, as well. So, Dave finally convinced me to learn…he tried for many years. My second day on skis, Dave decided that I was ready for a very long, relatively flat beginner trail. Dave missed a turn to stay on the trail, and we ended up on an intermediate trail. After hiking back up a little ways, we got back onto the beginner trail. But, I was a lost cause by that point. I cried the entire way down, and it took me over an hour to ski down the mountain. Dave was really patient, though, and didn’t get frustrated or angry wth me at all. Of course, now it’s funny to think about because he had me back on my skis the next day, and now I’m able to hit the slopes with all of our friends. In re-telling the story, people have told us that if we made it through a bad skiing experience, we can make it through a lot!”
So true Meghan! Congrats to both of you and your amazing families.
