You’ve heard me say it before (and you’ll hear me say it again), but amongst the best parts of meeting new couples and photographing their weddings is the opportunity to make new friends and build life-long relationships-at least photographically. So it was particularly thrilling to get together with Nina and Tim this past Fall, whose wedding this “film” moment was from, back in the summer of 2003 at the Coveleigh Club in Rye, New York, and to meet and photograph their adorable kids Ryan and Sydney. Looking forward to many more sessions together.

Well in two days (the 17th) it will not only be our daughter Molly’s 20th birthday (oh my gosh is that possible? Happy almost birthday Mol) but also the third anniversary of our good friends Wendy and Jim, whose wedding we photographed at the Country Club of Darien, one of our favorite places to work (thanks in no small part to the wonderful Director of Catering Deb Pimentel), three years ago to the day. And what better way to celebrate than to be able to post these photos that I recently had the opportunity to take of Wendy and Jim and their beautiful little girl May. But then would you have expected anything other than adorable from Wendy and Jim. Looking forward to our next session.

One of my most exciting photo experiences of late has been to photograph the babies of the brides and grooms whose weddings I’ve had the opportunity to photograph over the last decade. And nothing could be more true than with our recent photos of Kim and Drew (whose wedding was nearly three years ago) and their now one year old Joshua, the ultimate boy’s boy. Make special note of Joshua’s early instincts to follow in his grandpa’s footsteps as an electrician (no one was injured in the filming of this sequence). To all my brides and grooms, the standing offering of your first photo session, on me, remains, so please call. A great way for us to keep in touch, and nothing but fun for me.

Happy New Year to all! With wishes to all of our friends and family for a year filled with health, happiness and a renewed sense of possibilities.

And in the spirit of new beginnings, the results of our recent session with baby Gracie, with mom and dad Matt and Kate, whose wedding we had the privilege of documenting two years ago. And to all of our friends whose weddings we’ve photographed and who have not taken me up on my standing gift offer for your first “family portrait”, I look forward to your call.

So much catching up to do with my blog entries. It’s been a wild couple of weeks, filled with beautiful weddings, but while I’m finishing up the editing of last weekend’s nuptials, I came across this picture that I shot last year of actor James (Jim) Naughton for a Westport Magazine cover. Not actually the photo they used but thought this was a particularly fun one. Jim had found this little fawn with a broken leg in his backyard and brought it to Wildlife in Crisis, an incredible nonprofit dedicated to rehabilitating injured and abandoned animals (from birds to racoons, etc), which previously unknown to me, happens to be just up the road from where we live in Weston. Anyone interested in donating or otherwise getting involved can go their website or e-mail them at wildlifeincrisis@snet.net.
